                                    Re: 4 Corners Report - 01/10/01
 
I was very concern about the VRE Superbug discovered in the Royal Perth Hospital and other 
hospitals recently. It was revealed in the report that:
 
1) Some death had already occurred in the Eastern States,
2) the Bug is drug resistant,
3) we are the biggest user of antibiotics in stock-feed in the world,
4) animal manures could contaminate vegetables we eat,
5) animal products could affect our health in the long run (?), 
6) EEU was very critical of us using antibiotics. 
 
It is important that an independent Special Task Force be established immediately to investigate the 
use of antibiotics in the stock feeds and effects to human health.
